warm ,calm and overcast
Ian and John
I couldn't sleep so I had net rides 1 to 4 up and was
starting ride 8 when Ian arrived at 5 am as advised. After a cup of tea we did
out first round and were surprised to see a half dozen birds in net ride 6 and then onto 8, where a
further 9 awaited.
A return to form finally. There were one or two blanks
through the morning but in the end a total of 53 was most welcome.
Highlight of the session was a Paris ringed Reed Warbler and
for Ian a juvenile Kingfisher. We also had a male Great Spotted Woodpecker and 3
new Sedge Warblers. Our first juvenile Chiffchaff for the year and 9 new Reed
Warblers, making 17 for the morning. So getting better.
