A below average catch for CES#10
(mean 46) but made up for by 2 x GARWA (our first since 2015) and 4 nice
juvenile WHITE (our first for 2018). We have seen juvenile WHITE
first appear as early as the 1st week of June (2005) and as late as
the 3rd week of August (2013). No June appearances have
occurred since 2011. The annual numbers of that species captured since
2011 have fallen noticeably and that trend looks set to continue. A
single LOTTI was surprisingly the first for this year.
Mike did well to successfully
extract a Black-tailed skimmer from Net 5 and also a large Bumblebee species
from Net 1 – only to get a stung finger for his trouble.

Ginny & Pete
